In 20 Lykke Li released some music with LIV, a Swedish supergroup that features Li, her romantic partner Jeff Bhasker, Andrew Wyatt from Miike Snow, Pontus Winnberg from Miike Snow and Amason, and Peter Bjorn and John‘s Björn Yttling. In February she shared a new cover of Jim Croce’s 1972 single “Time in a Bottle.” Lykke Li’s last album was 2014’s I Never Learn. It featured the singer/songwriter is various states of dress in several settings. In April Lykke Li shared a mysterious new 90-second teaser trailer that featured new instrumental music and was also entitled so sad so sexy. Then she shared two more songs from it, “sex money feelings die” and “two nights” (which featured Portland rapper Aminé). Previously Lykke Li shared the album’s first two singles, “hard rain” and “deep end,” as well as a video for another song from the album, “utopia.” Then she shared an intimate iPhone-shot vertical video for “deep end.” That was followed by a cinematic video for “hard rain” that costarred Moley Talhaoui, a Swedish artist/illustrator, and chronicled a volatile relationship.
Now she has done a session for Spotify where she covers Usher’s “U Got It Bad” (from his 2001 album 8701), as well as performing her own so sad so sexy song “sex money feelings sad.” Check out the session below, followed by Usher’s original.
